blog
in approximately 35 minutes, i am going to cease being 17 years old and become an 18 year old.
yet, sometimes i just wish that growing up isn't this fast. so what if i can go apply for driving test, so what if i can buy alcohol, so what if i can watch m18 movies (not like it is useful)?
given a chance, i would rather live my 17th year all over again. perhaps, i would have done some things differently and my life would also turn out slightly different.
sometimes, i feel that growing up is a burden. when you grow up, you are expected to be able to handle more things, be exposed to the big bad world outside. i mean, some assume that with age comes wisdom (eg the wise OLD aunty michelle), but perhaps sometimes the added burden outweighs whatever potential gain you have by growing up.
perhaps it is just the uncertainty that makes me so apprehensive of this new year. what a quick year it has been. the flobberball i got from michelle on my last bday still remains untouched as other stuffs seem to have taken priority over it. will it still remain untouch for the next year? i have no definite answer to that.
on the bright side, it may be somewhat comforting that some great people have the same birthdays as you. i know who were born on my birthday, charles darwin and abraham lincoln. i will never reach half the greatness they have, but i shall just wish that i would be similar to them in at least one aspect, that is to make a difference.
what kind of difference? i am not too sure about that either. =\
11.38 pm, 22 minutes left of being 17 years old. this feels just so... surreal...
