blog
having relied on the mrt as my staple form of transport for the past 2 weeks, this is what i have gathered in my little observations from time to time:
1) some people are so willing to let others know what they are listening to and they just switch their headphones' (or rather ear buds headphones) volume to full blast. it would not have been so bad if the music was something that was not jarring, but these ppl usually listen to screechy, jarring music. also, it doubles your agony when you are trying to listen to your own player instead or when you are trying to catch some sleep (while standing in most cases).
2) people still like to crowd around the door despite having so many pockets of empty space deeper into the train. also, somehow the side whose doors are not on the side of the platform seem to have more space compared to the side which opens to the platform. on the east-west, north-south lines this is not so bad as both sides are used, but on the north-east line where seemingly on 1 side is used throughout the line, this problem becomes rather obvious. in the end, there is such a huge crowd near the door that people can't board the train while there are obviously some empty pockets in the carriage.
3) sometimes, different sections of the train contain people who alight at different stations. for example, people who alight at dhoby ghaut usually board the train at areas different from that of those alighting at, for an instance, outram park.
4) some people are just so plain lazy that they prefer to take the escalator that is considerably slower than walking the stairs. if the walk is rather long, it is understandable, but just 2 flights of stairs?
erm what else ah? still the same thing everyday. wake up, go attachment, come back, eat dinner, play comp, sleep... sheesh i need a more fulfilling life.
